Blue Grass

posted by on February 21st, 2014

I’ve been a country music fan for quite awhile now, but I don’t feel like I’m really all that familiar with it’s roots. I feel like I should give myself a bit of a history lesson as to where it all started. I think I would like to start with Blue Grass music. I’ve always loved the way an excellent banjo at musicians friend sounds, and from the bits of it I have heard I think it’s definitely something I would enjoy learning more about!

New Obsession: Bates Motel

posted by on February 21st, 2014

norman_batesI don’t know what made me decide to watch it. Usually it’s a safe bet that any kind of remake, sequel, or prequel of such a iconic film is going to be a complete disappointment. But I let my obsession with Vera Farmiga guide me, and boy am I thankful I did! Chris and I watched the first season in somewhere around a week. I even got him to watch Psycho, and that’s no small feat considering his general dislike of anything in black and white. I’m hoping I can use this as an excuse to talk him into watching more old Hitchcock films, but who knows?

We can’t wait for the new season to start, but luckily March 3rd is just around the corner!

Shopping for me

posted by on February 21st, 2014

I’m looking into expanding my collection of musical instruments. I haven’t touched a piano since I was a kid, but it’s still my favorite instrument of all time. Though I don’t think I could commit to a real piano, so maybe I could start with just a keyboard, and work my way up? I’ve been looking over the best yamaha keyboard reviews, and I think I have a good idea of what I want. I’m excited!

I’m going to be a baking fool

posted by on February 21st, 2014

Man, when I get better I’m going to be a baking fool! Pinterest is a very dangerous little corner of the internet. I feel like I’ve gained 3 pounds just from looking at it tonight. This recipe for iced oatmeal cookies literally has me salivating. I used to love the ones my mom bought as a kid. Luckily I’m feeling better every day, so I will be back in the kitchen whipping up delicious goodies i no time.

Someone who has everything

posted by on February 21st, 2014

How do I gift shop for someone who has everything? A friend of mine is having a birthday next week, and I genuinely don’t know what to get him! I thought about the loar guitars at guitar center because he has always expressed an interest in learning how to play. But what if that’s something he would prefer to pick out for himself? It seems like these days it’s easier to just give gift cards.

Snail’s pace knitting

posted by on February 21st, 2014

I’ve been working on learning how to knit for oh, about 5 years now. Shut up, I’m a slow learner! I just get bored easily, which is why the scarf and hat set had intended to make for my poor boyfriend Chris is only half done. Seriously, how do you knit a hat? I don’t know how to follow a pattern, and so far winging it isn’t quite cutting it. I suppose I will have to actually break down and figure out how to read patterns so yet another winter won’t go by with Chris freezing his head off. Wish me luck!

Musically obsessed

posted by on February 21st, 2014

Have I mentioned I’m practically bed ridden? Sorry, I get kind of repetitive when I’m bored. The only thing that’s really saved me from going one hundred percent bonkers is music. I’ve spent a lot of time listening to all my favorite bands while reading. At this time it’s The Beatles, I can just picture them using something like this classic peterson stomp classic, getting down.

Missing veganism

posted by on February 21st, 2014

There is plenty I don’t miss about veganism. I don’t miss reading ingredient lists. I don’t miss not being able to eat anything but french fries at the restaurants my friends usually chose. I don’t miss being made to feel stupid by those who took veganism as a personal attack against their right to eat meat. But what I do miss was the health aspect of it. Being a vegan gave me no choice but to eat healthy meals. I still think about going back to it. I probably will at some point.

Dreams are funny

posted by on February 21st, 2014

Last night I had a dream I could fly. I don’t know what brought it on, but I was using my powers for evil rather than good. I was stealing things, and fighting against the good guys. Maybe it means I secretly want to be bad? But I think if I were really able to fly I would just well… Fly. Everywhere. I would find me an affordable fender mustang i 20-watt 1×8-inch guitar combo amp, and play the guitar in a band where I could wow the crowd with my mad flying skills. I would spend a whole day following the sun just so I could see as many sunrises as possible.

Is Christina Aguilera pregnant?

posted by on February 21st, 2014

christina-aguilera-01While US Weekly says a definite yes, there seems to still be a little bit of confusion on the topic. I really have no idea, but all I can really hope is that whatever the answer is, I hope she and her family are healthy and happy.

There is so much speculation and invasion of privacy for celebrities, I hate seeing their personal lives splashed all over the internet. I know that celebrities go into their chosen careers with the knowledge that they will receive a lot of attention, but I feel like it’s our duty as a community to show a bit more respect for their privacy as a human being. I would assume that when miss Aguilera wants people to know she is pregnant, she will tell them!

Alright, I will dismount my soapbox now.

Hitting the books

posted by on February 21st, 2014

After almost two weeks of being holed up in my bedroom, my brain is thirsty for knowledge. I want to learn something! I’ve given serious thought to studying something involving the law. I could open an employment law practice, and help those in need. It’s a career path that I feel would really suit my personality, as I love to argue!

I suppose we’ll see.

Yummy lemon bars

posted by on February 21st, 2014

One of the main things I’ve been missing while I’ve been out of commission has been baking! And I think that mixed with the fact that I’m craving something summery and citrusy, has me thinking about making these Lemon Bars. Unfortunately my sweet tooth kind of takes over when I get bored.

Along the same lemony lines, I’ve been thinking about making some lemon poppy seed muffins. I ordered this huge jar of them from Amazon, and I’m thinking they’re going to be delicious! Please feel free to share any recipes with me!

Boredom is getting to me

posted by on February 21st, 2014

I could use some distraction during this time of recovery. For some reason I feel like I am going absolutely stir crazy. I would definitely benefit from getting out and doing something fun, like maybe going and seeing some live music? I would kill to see some guitarist jam out, using his mad professor golden cello at guitar center. Or even just to see the outside of my bedroom! Oh well, soon enough I will be all healed up and back to my normal activities.

I’m alive (but just barely)

posted by on February 20th, 2014

Okay, so this last week and a half has been kind of a crazy one! Unfortunately my hernia became incarcerated, and I required emergency surgery. Luckily everything was okay, and it all went as planned, but it was definitely the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. Who would have known that having surgery on your stomach would effect your back?

I’ve had so much pain in my neck and back that I considered getting TENS Units or some kind of Muscle Stimulators. I may still. Or maybe even the LG-TEC Dual Combo TENS Unit and Muscle Stimulator, which is the best of both worlds.

I will probably want to Visit LGMedSupply Online and decide which unit would be the best for me. I’ve also been looking at their online customer blog which is full of valuable information. It’s great to know I can find pain relief without medication

Surgery nightmares

posted by on February 02nd, 2014

I have an umbilical hernia, and it needs to be mended. Well, apparently I get no choice in when that’s done, and it’s really beginning to annoy me. Being that I have a job, I kind of need a say in when this happens and for some reason my current surgeon’s office is not being very sympathetic to that. Maybe I have the wrong insurance? It seems like that goes a long way in determining your level of importance. I think perhaps I should find an affordable health insurance site, and do some shopping.

Sorry for the rant, I suppose it’s just frustrating.
