I hate my memory

My memory sucks. It drives me insane! Sometimes something will remind me of a book I’ve read, a movie I’ve seen, or a song I’ve heard, and I can’t for the life of me remember what it was! Atleast it’s usually something popular, and easy to find. I can often google a few words of a song, and it will pop right up. But this time, it’s different. This time I have been racking my brain, and getting absolutely nowhere.

Back when I was in high school, there was this awesome little second hand book store right across the street. I only got to stop in a few times during my brief high school career, but one of the times I did, I found something awesome. I was scrounging through the bargain bin, and I picked up this funny little book, with a minimal amount of 70′s style art, and decided to take a 79 cent gamble on it.

This turned out to be one of the most interesting books I have ever read. It was about this guy, who was a real jerkface (not a word, I know, but I’m trying to keep it PG) who killed his girlfriend in a moment of rage during an argument. When fleeing the crime scene, he gets into a huge wreck, and gets carried off into a cave by the natives of an alternate universe. He is healed by their shaman type person, and is then taken into their community where he finds a mate and builds a life for himself. Then, guess what happens?

He wakes up in a hospital bed! Ugh, blew my mind! It was all a dream, and now he has to face prison for killing his girlfriend, and mourn the loss of his dream life. I would love to read this book again, but I have absolutely no memory of what it was called, or who it was by. I don’t remember who I gave it to either. Oh well, maybe someday I will find it again, in another cute little second hand book store.

It’s funny because I posted about something similar today…I can’t remember people’s names anymore! Good luck remembering the book title — hopefully it will pop into your head soon.

Oh I’ve done that, but I’m totally worse! I used to drive Justin crazy because I’d say “play the sidewalk song” (Because of You, Kelly Clarkson) or “the crystal ball song” (Iron Maiden: Can I Play With Madness). I hate my memory; I got teased about it all the time.

I used to tease my husband about his horrible memory and how it was because he is so much OLDER than me (4 years). Then I realized that my memory, which used to be like a steel trap, is failing more and more these days. I can’t remember nearly what I used to, and certainly not with the same level of detail. It’s one of those things that sucks about getting older!

Ugh, I do this all the time. Hopefully your book title comes to you!
