My Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies

One of my absolute favorite parts of Christmas is the yummy homemade treats! I love the act of baking, the smell of baking, and of course the end result of baking. The yummy cookies, brownies, fudge, and pies make Christmas for me. I mean, sure the presents, the cheer, the music, the goodwill toward man stuff is nice too. But it just isn’t Christmas without the smell of cookies wafting through the house.

So I wanted to share my favorite, tried and true Christmas chocolate chip cookie recipe. I didn’t come up with it on my own, I found it on the internet as I do most of my recipes. But I’ll probably never need to try another!

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (Though sometimes I use milk chocolate, cause they’re sweeter.)

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.

Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt; set aside.

In a medium bowl, cream together the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar until well blended. Beat in the vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until light and creamy. Mix in the sifted ingredients until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon. Drop cookie dough 1/4 cup at a time onto the prepared cookie sheets. Cookies should be about 3 inches apart.

Bake for 15 to 17 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

That’s it! I hope you give em a try cause they’re amazing! Merry Christmas!

Are they chewy? I mean like super chewy? Like Chewy Chips Ahoy Chewy? Because I’ve been trying to figure out the science behind chewy cookies and I keep failing. Not even Alton Brown’s Chewy recipe is chewy enough!!

Yeah Amy, they’re most chewy when you let the bottoms brown a little more than you normally would. They have the perfect chewy to crispy ratio.
